Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) kills more than 1,000 people a day, making it a leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of death for people over 35. The American Heart Association maintains that the early use of CPR and rapid defibrillation, combined with early advanced care, can result in long-term survival rates for witnessed ventricular fibrillation as high as 40 percent! If, by taking this course, you can increase your response time to using an AED by a few minutes, you may improve someone's chance of survival by as much as 30 to 40 percent.
OBJECTIVES
Recognize warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest
Provide Basic Life Support while setting up the AED
Provide basic life support with and AED
Care for and maintain and AED
COURSE PREREQUISITES
Current CPR training
May be a diver or non-diver
There is no minimum age
MATERIALS (included in the course)
Student Handbook (you will receive this when you enroll in the course)
DAN Course Completion Card (you must renew every two years)
DAN Wall Certificate
PADI DISTINCTIVE SPECIALTY
You can receive a PADI distinctive specialty rating in conjunction with this PADI approved course. The $30.00 administration fee covers the PADI certification card and picture. This is a two year certification requiring an update at the end of two years.
